G Transporte is a rapidly growing start-up company in the transportation and logistics industry, founded in 2011. With its rapid growth, the complexity and importance of well-structured processes of the company have increased. As the company is privately owned, and still a young start-up, processes are neither standardized nor documented – rather, they exist in the minds of the company’s management – currently just two people. If the management is not available, no employee knows how the processes are properly performed.
First, as-is processes are captured in collaboration with the client and key employees. Secondly, as-is processes are analysed and weaknesses are identified by consulting again the client, key employees and external experts. Lastly, suggestions for imptovement are made based on identified weaknesses and input from the interviews with external experts.
Results are the as-is state documentation of four predetermined key processes, to be state documentation for two key processes and suggestions for improvement for the respective two key processes. Through this documentation, the company has a sound structure concerning the four key processes and employees can work more independently. Overall, the results are practical and possible. One of four suggestions for improvement was already implemented during compilation of this thesis. As the company expects further growth in future years, implementation of the other suggestions is currently an important topic. This thesis will be used as a foundation for the company to further compose new processes in the face of expanding abroad.
