Unified Health Data for Longevity Services: User Demand and GP Feasibility in Switzerland

People now collect more health data than ever, through smartwatches, apps, and trackers, yet the gap between how long they live and how long they stay healthy keeps growing. The problem is that this data sits scattered across devices and apps, and nobody knows which longevity services people actually want, or which ones Swiss doctors could realistically deliver.

The thesis makes three contributions: it tests, in the Swiss context, whether demand holds as data integration increases; it maps the gap between what users want and what GPs can deliver at the level of specific services; and it identifies the precise conditions each service needs to become clinically operational. The findings should be read as exploratory, based on a small health-interested sample and a purposely selected expert panel, not as evidence generalisable to the Swiss population or profession.
This thesis examines both questions, with unified health data as the link between them. It runs in three phases: a literature review establishes why combining health data in one place matters for longevity; an online survey (n=29) tests demand across 17 longevity services, grouped into three tiers by how much data integration each one needs; and finally, three expert GPs assess which of the most-wanted services are clinically realistic in Swiss primary care.
The survey found that demand did not drop as services required more integrated data; respondents wanted advanced, integration-dependent services as much as simple ones available today. The expert interviews showed that some of these services are usable now, some are one validation step away, and some need structural change that does not yet exist. One important constraint is reimbursement: Swiss doctors are paid for visits, not for keeping patients healthy.
