Digital wallets are a hot topic, especially on the Swiss market due to the latest developments. New solutions from big international players are launched and existing wallets plan a relaunch. Even though Switzerland is a country with long history in banking and the penetration of mobile devices is very high compared to other countries, digital wallets do not reach a critical mass. In accordance to this situation, this thesis has the aim to identify functional user requirements to foster the potential of user adoption toward digital wallet solutions on the Swiss market. Nevertheless, different aspects such as security, trust in providers and ease of use influence the intension to use digital wallets, functional extents of digital wallets play an important role for prospect users. To achieve the goals of this study, first a sound literature review gives insights about the current Swiss and international market situation. Furthermore, different existing research state relevant factors of user adoption for digital wallets and potential functional artefacts for future digital wallets.
