This master's thesis explores the potential of artificial intelligence (AI) to reduce educational inequalities in the Swiss primary school system. The focus is on structural challenges such as unequal access to learning resources, lack of individual support, and language barriers.
Using a mixed-methods approach consisting of qualitative interviews and quantitative parent surveys, the perspectives of key education stakeholders such as teachers, principals, prospective teachers, school experts, and parents were recorded.
Building on international case studies, current research, and empirical findings, “Learnado” is developing an AI-supported learning platform based on Swiss primary school curricula. Learnado addresses individual learning needs through adaptive learning paths, multilingual content, and a child-friendly design. Particular attention is paid to accessibility, user-friendliness, and compliance with data protection requirements. In addition, the work outlines a scalable business model for long-term implementation. The aim is to make a practical contribution to designing equitable and digitally supported learning processes in the Swiss educational context.
