Bayer has introduced several AI tools in recent years, where myGenAssist and Microsoft Copilot have been revealed to be the most impactful. However, it remained unclear how well these tools are known, adopted, and aligned with daily tasks in the EMEA CS PS department. Limited awareness, acceptance barriers, and a lack of transparency risk reducing the value generated from these technologies.
The study combines a literature review on technology acceptance and human–AI collaboration with an analysis of Bayer’s internal AI tool landscape. Additionally, semi-structured interviews were conducted with employees from various countries and roles. The gathered responses were analyzed using the Technology Acceptance Model and the Task–Technology Fit framework.
The findings reveal that identified AI tools, and especially generative AI, are already embedded in many workflows, improving efficiency, knowledge access, and creativity. Key success factors include trust in those systems, clear use cases, prompt engineering skills, and organizational support. Barriers persist in uneven awareness, skill gaps, and limited resources to learn more about those tools. Based on this, concrete recommendations for Bayer include targeted training and awareness programs, expanded internal support structures, and initiatives to foster a culture that positions AI as a supportive tool. In addition, the concept of designated team internal Power Users that can act as knowledge multipliers and bridge existing knowledge gaps was introduced. Implementing these measures can unlock efficiency gains, empower employees, and ensure a responsible AI integration. Implementing these measures can unlock efficiency gains, empower employees, and ensure a responsible AI integration.
