Higher education typically relies on textual communication methods such as PowerPoint and PDF. While these formats are well established, they may not fully address the needs of all educators, and students, given different topics and contexts. Diversifying educational communications methods by integrating video content can support different learning preferences and teaching styles, yet have previously been bottlenecked by production effort and costs. AI-based tools for video creation offer new possibilities in this field.
To approach this opportunity, literature was reviewed, user needs analysed, and digital tools were explored using the FHNW School of Business Supply Chain Management and Sustainability module as an exemplar. The work deliberately focuses on usability, adaptability, and applicability of AI video generation.
The work proposes a framework and suggests implementation approaches to adding AI-generated video to educational experiences. This can contribute to more inclusive, efficient, and engaging teaching practices, while remaining mindful of ethical and legal considerations, and implications for IT procurement and nevessary information systems.
