This research aims to assess the influence of proactive and reactive conversation styles on trust, attitudes, and privacy concerns of users towards chatbots in the healthcare context and to explore how those conversation styles influence users’ willingness to disclose personal health information.
The study applies a quantitative method approach which combines between-subject experimental design and survey to investigate hypotheses and gather user insights based on their direct experience with a chatbot. This research addresses the privacy paradox in chatbot interaction by providing insights for researchers, healthcare organizations, and chatbot developers on designing appropriate conversational styles of chatbots.
Overall, this research contributes to the development of scenarios for proactive and reactive chatbot communication in healthcare by conducting chatbot prototypes and experiments to evaluate the effect of these chatbot conversational styles on people’s trust, attitudes, privacy concerns, and healthcare information sharing behavior.
