GAG's parking system faces significant challenges due to unstructured allocation, unauthorized use, and growing demand. These issues disrupt operational efficiency, create logistical bottlenecks, and fail to meet the sustainability goals of the organization.
The team conducted a comprehensive analysis of parking demand, usage patterns, and stakeholder requirements. Three concepts were proposed and evaluated using a weighted decision matrix, prioritizing cost-effectiveness, user convenience, and scalability. Additionally, different surveys have been conducted with the visitors and employees of GAG to consider their needs.
The implementation of a License Plate Recognition System (LPRS) provides automated monitoring, enhances operational efficiency, and improves user convenience. This system ensures fair and efficient parking allocation, minimizes unauthorized use, and aligns with GAG’s sustainability goals. Its cost-effectiveness and scalability support future growth while encouraging sustainable commuting practices. Additional recommendations include progressive pricing models with free time for the first 60-90 minutes, enhanced parking markings, and incentives for alternative transportation. These measures deliver long-term benefits by improving logistics, enhancing user satisfaction, and fostering an environmentally conscious approach.
