In many countries, the conditions for effectively distributing eyeglasses are lacking. In remote areas, high transport costs and poor infrastructure exacerbate poverty and inequality. GoodVision International faces the challenge of establishing both local production and sustainable partnerships.
The project spans 14 countries, including recipient and donor nations.
The thesis combines a quantitative evaluation of SDG relevance with qualitative interviews from country representatives. All 17 SDGs were initially analyzed to identify key areas like "No Poverty" (SDG 1) and "Quality Education" (SDG 4).
A qualitative analysis of open questions from the countries provided insights into challenges, successes, and suggestions for improvement.
This was complemented by a SWOT analysis that highlights internal strengths and external opportunities.
The analysis shows that GoodVision International excels in SDG 1 (poverty reduction), SDG 3 (health), SDG 4 (education), and SDG 17 (partnerships). Local production teams and eyeglass donations for adults over 50 improve incomes and school performance.
Collaborations with governments and NGOs have enhanced access to vision aids through permanent health stations and mobile clinics.
However, challenges remain in logistics, funding, and cultural barriers, particularly for women and low-income families.
To enhance impact, the study recommends targeted partnerships with educational and health organizations, stronger integration into government structures, and support for sustainable production. GoodVision International combines poverty reduction, health promotion, and education while preserving regional resources and strengthening local capacities long-term.
