With a special focus on urban hotels, this thesis aims to bridge the gap in AI adoption by developing a comprehensive framework tailored to the specific needs of Swiss SME hotels.
Utilizing Design Science Research (DSR) methodology, this study incorporates insights from existing models and frameworks, interviews with hotel representatives and industry experts, and practical considerations to create a phased approach for AI adoption. The proposed framework addresses key factors such as digital maturity, financial constraints, and employee training, providing actionable steps for AI readiness assessments, implementation, and continuous improvement. Additionally, it emphasizes the importance of aligning AI initiatives with the business strategy and goals, promoting data-driven decision-making, and fostering an innovation culture within hotels.
This research contributes to the existing body of knowledge by providing a structured approach for AI adoption, ultimately enhancing the competitive advantage of SME hotels in Switzerland.
