ESPAS, founded to create meaningful employment for individuals with disabilities, operates in Zurich, Winterthur, and Richterswil, Switzerland. However, the COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated the application of digital technology and automation, which has drastically decreased the need for ESPAS's traditional administrative services. This decline threatens the sustainability of ESPAS's mission-driven business model, posing significant challenges in maintaining its role as a social enterprise committed to inclusive employment.
The research combined on-site observation at ESPAS's headquarters, qualitative interviews with current and potential clients, and a thorough review of secondary literature. The site visit gave a comprehensive understanding of the operating dynamics of ESPAS, while the interviews provided significant discoveries into the demands and perspectives of the customers. Secondary research offered a thorough framework for strategic planning by analyzing competitor strategies, market trends, and forthcoming technology.
The research suggests that to remain competitive, ESPAS needs to expand the range of administrative services it provides and use cutting-edge digital tools such as automation and artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance service quality and efficiency. Recommendations include expanding into new market segments and offering tailored service packages that meet the specific needs of these clients. Additionally, strengthening its digital capabilities will allow ESPAS to adapt to the demands of modern companies by simplifying processes and lowering manual errors. These strategies guarantee ESPAS's long-term sustainability while simultaneously advancing its social objective. By implementing these approaches, ESPAS can enhance its market presence, attract new customers, and continue providing valuable employment opportunities to individuals with disabilities. All of these efforts will strengthen ESPAS's influence on social inclusion in a rapidly digitizing world. The findings provide ESPAS the resources it needs to make strategic decisions, preserving the company's adaptability and success in a changing market.
