The new Federal Act on Data Protection was implemented in Switzerland in autumn 2023. This law and the changes had a big impact on every enterprise. However, micro-enterprises have significantly less resources to address this change and its consequences. They need every help they can get to find their way through the jungle of law texts to the relevant information.
There is an abundance of information about data protection legislation online as well as tools to learn about it. But not all of them serve their purpose. These tools have been tried when free of charge and evaluated. Additionally, interviews have been conducted with industry associations. With the knowledge of what might work, a Moodle course has been built with PowerPoint, Visualizations and quizzes to study the new law.
The existing Moodle course consists of the basic structure with the relevant information on the new legislation arranged according to the roadmap of MECys. Building and expanding this course will help the FHNW MECyS Team to teach the peculiarities of Swiss legislation as well as excerpts of the General Data Protection Act of the EU to Swiss enterprises.
