Sonepar's current supplier scoring system is already on a very high level, however it can be improved with KPI's to evaluate innovation, compliance, and sustainability, and is relying on static annual scores that don't capture dynamic performance. A comprehensive review of the existing KPIs and their weightings is necessary to determine whether they represent state-of-the-art practices and if they are appropriately calibrated to drive meaningful supplier improvements.
The thesis started by conducting a thorough analysis of Sonepar's existing supplier scoring system, highlighting significant gaps and limitations. We conducted a thorough literature review to uncover industry best practices and cutting-edge KPIs in supplier evaluation. We then compared Sonepar's system with these standards, leading to actionable recommendations. These include integrating new KPIs and redesigning the scoring matrix to better align with Sonepar's strategic goals, resulting in a more tailored and effective evaluation system.
This thesis proposes an enhanced supplier performance scoring system that offers Sonepar several key benefits. The system now offers a more precise and dynamic evaluation of supplier performance, with a focus on crucial aspects such as environmental sustainability and innovation. This integration of new, relevant KPIs adds an interesting dimension to the assessment process. "This comprehensive system enhances the accuracy and relevance of supplier evaluations by integrating state-of-the-art KPIs tailored to the specific needs identified in interviews with Sonepar employees. The new evaluation matrix carefully weighs different KPI categories, reflecting both industry best practices and internal insights. Regular evaluations of the scoring matrix are recommended to ensure it continues to align with Sonepar's evolving needs and strategic goals.
