In order to impart basic financial knowledge to all of it's employees the Endress+Hauser Flowtec AG offers trainings on various financial topics. Now the Endress+Hauser Flowtec AG wants to create a new training based on Capital Expenditures (CAPEX). Therefore, this thesis looks at the strengths and weaknesses of different training methods, the instructional design model ADDIE, as well as theory and internal processes on CAPEX that should be included in the training.
First, relevant literature on training methods, the ADDIE model, and on CAPEX theory were collected and evaluated. Secondly, an interview was conducted to get insights into the requirements of the company regarding the CAPEX training. Furthermore, a survey was distributed within the company regarding the employees' preferences towards different training methods. Based on this information a suggestion was established on which training methods fit best to a CAPEX training, whether the ADDIE model suits the training, and what content should compose the CAPEX training.
Based on the literature research and the data collected within this thesis the use of online training, rather than face-to-face training, is suggested for the CAPEX training within the Endress+Hauser Flowtec AG. Additionally, futher methods can be used as a supplementary method, for example mobile learning, microlearning, and gamification, to improve the effectiveness of the training. Furthermore, based on the research it is indicated that ADDIE would be a useful instructional design model for the Endress+Hauser Flowtec AG to develop the CAPEX training. Regarding the content of the training, a suggestion was established within the thesis looking at basic theory on CAPEX, the effect it has on the financial statements, the contribution margin, as well as the inclusion of internal processes.
