A non-profit organization in Switzerland, crucial to supporting diabetics, faced significant challenges due to an outdated IT infrastructure, impacting its ability to deliver effective services. The organization aimed to raise CHF 10,000 for necessary IT upgrades, and this thesis focused on creating and implementing a fundraising campaign to meet this financial need, thereby improving service delivery to its members.
The fundraising strategy utilized social media channels such as Facebook, LinkedIn, and WhatsApp, alongside personalized email marketing. The campaign was designed to engage potential donors by emphasizing the urgency of the IT upgrades and their direct impact on improving care for diabetics in the region. Continuous monitoring and real-time adjustments were key components of the strategy.
The campaign generated significant social media engagement but raised only CHF 65, far short of the CHF 10,000 goal, with a conversion rate of 0.49%. Despite the financial shortfall, the project provided valuable insights into the challenges of non-profit fundraising. The findings highlighted the need for clearer calls to action, increased personalization, and better integration of communication channels. While the immediate financial objectives were not met, the experience gained offers a foundation for more effective future campaigns. Implementing the thesis recommendations could enhance the organization's fundraising capabilities, ultimately improving its ability to support diabetics in the region. The lessons learned are crucial for refining future strategies to better connect with donors and achieve financial targets.
