One of Databoat’s specializations is change management and user adoption, primarily for IT transformations. However, as they expand into client projects that relate to mergers and acquisitions, the effectiveness of their existing champion network framework in this new context is uncertain. This study addresses whether Databoat's current approach needs adaptation to successfully manage post-merger change initiatives.
The research involved a thorough review of existing literature, focusing on change management, acquisitions, and champion networks. Qualitative data was collected through structured interviews with Databoat’s clients and industry experts. Internal documents were also analyzed to understand Databoat’s current framework. The insights were then clustered and compared against best practices identified in the literature.
The study found that Databoat’s current framework is generally aligned with best practices, and their clients appreciate the champion network approach. However, for post-merger scenarios, certain enhancements are necessary. The adapted framework emphasizes the importance of building robust champion networks to reduce resistance and facilitate smoother transitions during mergers. The study recommends specific adjustments to Databoat’s existing framework, ensuring it is resilient enough to support organizations during post-merger integration. This adaptation is expected to enhance Databoat's service offerings, providing their clients with a more effective change management process in the context of mergers and acquisitions. The findings also pave the way for future research, recommending to look further into understanding the long-term impact of champion networks on organizational culture post-acquisition.
