The project was initiated by the client with the goal of optimizing and automating its onboarding process, improving operational and compliance efficiency, and standardizing the decision process. This evolved in a complex project resulting in the development of a prototype for an automated onboarding system and also an extensive theoretical part.
The project was divided into two parts. The theoretical strategies were proposed, with clear paths for client management. Simultaneously, the practical part focused on the technical integration of these strategies via the implementation of our custom application. In alignment with the Financial Market Authority's (FMA) regulatory framework, we collaborated with industry experts such as the client's management, compliance officers, lawyers, and external partners.
Our research efforts went beyond traditional boundaries, including insightful online calls with potential partners, which enriched our understanding of market dynamics. We embraced the latest advances of technological innovation, implementing machine learning, crafting our artificial neural network, developing a knowledge-based system housing DMN decision logic, and seamlessly integrating Java applications, and JavaScript features. Despite navigating regulatory complexities, the project met its defined objectives with minor scope changes. The resulting prototype serves as a solid foundation for the client, which our client can use to build a well-working system with only a few steps needed. The client's and our supervisor's satisfaction demonstrates the project's resounding success. We are grateful to our client, our supervisor and FHNW for this valuable experience, which has provided us with knowledge and skills that extend beyond the scope of the project. We are eager to put our newfound knowledge to use and reflect on an incredible opportunity that has enriched our collective learning journey.
