Phishing Awareness Training Framework for Remote Workers

Attacks through phishing have been among the most significant challenges in cybersecurity, and Covid-19 has also exacerbated this challenge. Since the pandemic, more employees have been working remotely and more often than before. Thus, attackers can find their potential victims among remote workers as well. This fact also applies to remote working employees of Swiss companies. Exposure due to phishing can lead to significant reputational and financial damage for the affected companies. Employees need to be adequately trained for these phishing situations today more than ever. Be-sides technological solutions automatically detecting and blocking phishing, one crucial way to coun-teract the challenges is to train employees in phishing awareness. Therefore, this research investigated the effectiveness of current research on phishing awareness interventions by conducting a literature review. The studies examined showed that phishing aware-ness interventions could help employees recognize phishing and act accordingly. Additionally, this research investigated and discussed the challenges of remote work. Furthermore, this research examined how a phishing awareness training framework can look like that promotes awareness of remote working employees.
