Chatbot that supports the Digital Information Exchange of learning goals via an LMS at the FHNW Business Information Systems department

The way that students and professors connect and exchange information has been completely transformed by the digital transformation of education. However, within the framework of Learning Management Systems (LMS), difficulties still exist in effectively communicating learning objectives and attaining desired learning results. In order to solve these issues, this Master's thesis suggests the integration of a Microsoft Power Virtual Agents chatbot into MS Teams as a means of easing and improving the digital information flow between students and lecturers with regard to learning goals. The thesis starts with a thorough literature review that looks at the function of learning management systems (LMS), digital information exchange, learning goals and chatbots. The review emphasizes the necessity of lecturers and students having better interaction and an understanding of learning goals. The thesis uses a qualitative method to obtain information with primaty data being interviews with students and lecturers on their experiences with the current LMS and learning objectives as well as using a chatbit, and secondary data being a literature review and research. The gathered information is examined to determine the requirements for a chatbot solution and the present difficulties experienced by students and instructors.
