Teamwork Autonomy in a Sociocratic Organization

The research topic of this master thesis is team autonomy in a sociocratic organization. This paper explores the possibility of designing a mobile application that helps sociocratic teams to better self-organize and improve their autonomy. Mobile applications are becoming increasingly crucial in collaboration and productivity for reasons such as instant interaction between individuals, advanced accessibility, capabilities, and ease of usage. In a sociocratic organization, there have been improvements to software solutions to enhance team collaboration; however, these improvements were not reflected in mobile applications such as the ones used for agile management and teamwork. The agile collaboration apps (e.g., Hive, Trello, Jira, Asana) have not included sociocratic features that contribute to the sociocratic team self-organization. The research focuses on approaches to overcome this gap by using different methodologies to investigate the customer requirements, document the functional specification, model the required business processes, and design the prototype for the proposed solution. In addition, the research project aims to formulate the required information for developers in a way that helps them build the sociocratic mobile application.
