An Online Platform that Simplifies the Work of Groups and Non-Profit Organizations

Voluntary work is still very popular, and the number of Non-Profit Organizations (NPOs) is increasing. However, these organizations face major challenges that will require them to adopt fundamental changes. In the context of this work, it is examined whether it is possible to support non-profit organizations by developing a new business model. For this purpose, the needs of potential customers are identified, and a prototype of the proposed solution is developed within the framework of Design Science Research, which is supplemented with Design Thinking. After elaborating the fundamentals by means of a literature review, a survey and interviews are conducted with potential customers to verify the identified challenges and the potential of the proposed solution. The results of the literature research, the survey and the interviews is then used to develop a more detailed understanding of the problems. This subsequently allows the development of personas that reflect the potential customers. Problem statements are formulated, and ideas for solutions to the identified problems are developed. The developed solution proposals are then designed in form of mockups and presented to potential customers for evaluation. The insights show that the developed solution ideas have a very. The results show that the resulting solution ideas cover the needs of the users very well and even create new needs. Following this approach, the work provides a practical as well as a theoretical contribution, as it examines that the proposed solution can add value to organizations and what users require from the solution to ensure that it adds value to them, which is also the basis for developing a solution that can be implemented in practice.
