In the everyday logistics of the company, labels, lists, delivery documents, and evaluations are printed, sent by email, or archived as PDF files. These functionalities are currently provided by the software solution StreamServe. Now StreamServe is no longer supported in the industry. StreamServe support was officially ended in June 2020. Migros verteilbetrieb AG is reluctant to use outdated software that is no longer supported. Therefore, it requires a new, more advanced, and sophisticated software solution to replace StreamServe in order to streamline its day-to-day operations.
To identify the most suitable replacement, a stakeholder analysis was conducted to identify the individuals or groups who have an interest in this research paper. This enables to gain a clear understanding and prioritization of the requirements for the new software solution based on the stakeholders’ specific needs and preferences. The research methodology involved online desk research to search for actively supported software alternatives to StreamServe with comparable functionalities.
After conducting numerous searches using different search keys, several software options were listed. Upon visiting their official websites, contacting the software support team, and conducting careful evaluations, the following potential substitute software solutions were identified: OpenText Exstream, DocPath ZippyDocs, ISIS Papyrus, Quadient Inspire, and Oracle Documaker. The identified solutions were then evaluated based on publicly available data from their official websites and vendor-provided data obtained through direct contact with the software support team. After conducting an exhaustive comparison, this research study recommends OpenText Exstream as the most suitable option, followed by ISIS Papyrus in the second position, and DocPath ZippyDocs in the third position. These choices align well with the specific requirements of Migros Verteilbetrieb AG. These solutions offer functionalities similar to StreamServe and ensure ongoing support and updates, making them viable replacements for the outdated software. With the adoption of these modern software solutions, Migros Verteilbetrieb AG can continue its everyday logistics operations efficiently and effectively.
