According to the World Bank report (2014), 47% of adults in India are not having account in any of the financial institution. Indian financial institutions are having challenges in providing services to low income groups in rural areas due to the limited network and high operating cost. Finding innovative models to extend financial services to the poor has now become a challenge.The main goal of this work is to analyze the characteristics of mobile payment services in developing country India for financial inclusion of poor people. The intention is to evaluate the mobile payment services in India for a set of defined evaluation criteria. The evaluation criteria is defined based on the literature review done for the financial inclusion using mobile payments in developing nations and World Bank survey results on barriers of financial inclusion. Focus is to make recommendations for providing mobile payment services to the lower income groups in India....
