The client publishes online contests and quizzes as part of its brand advertising strategy. Currently, they analyze gathered data manually, which offers only a minimal number of insights. In order to leverage its potential for business, an interactive reporting dashboard based on a data mart for contest and quiz data is needed. A central requirement is the possibility to extend and integrate the data mart with a company-wide reporting and analysis platform in the future.
Based on collected requirements and constraints for the intended solution, a star schema model of the data mart is designed. The data mart is implemented using a number of data engineering tools that are predefined by the client’s data stack. A visually appealing and user-friendly dashboard for data visualization is developed in Power BI.
Based on the underlying data mart, the Power BI dashboard provides stakeholders with valuable insights that were not attainable before: The dashboard shows participant demographics, traffic sources, and geographical distributions of participants. It allows stakeholders to analyze the effectiveness of marketing measures, understand participant engagement, and make data-informed decisions for their future marketing endeavors. The data mart lays the groundwork for future extensions and integrations that can further enhance the ability to gain valuable marketing insights.
