In the last years a manufacturing company has managed to shift their operations from traditional and conservative ways of working to lean based principles. Although, the company's manufacturing department is operating almost 70% on lean principles, the agile supply chain is the last missing link for the lean transformation to be completed.
Consequently, the company faces some issues such as high workload for the purchasing people, no visibility for the supplier, lack of automation on purchase side, PUSH approach.
This bachelor thesis aimed to provide the manufacturing company with a strategical concept giving the oppotunity to automize more, reduce lead times with the suppliers and have higher inventory turnover. Therefore, a literature review and semi-structured interviews have been conducted. With the appreared issues from the information gathered. focus topics have been identified and analysed. The paper's analysis and findings have been presented in a self-created vizualization which shows the main development point of each focus topic.
The findings show that there are several factors which have to be addressed and settled before being able to complete the lean transformation. The House of Recommendation has a bottom up approach starting with the traversal base, processes and employees, which in combination with the communication build the foundation of the house. Going further with the three pillars which are the three focus topics analysed through the whole project. Given the three pillars the roof containing of the objectives can be achieved.
Through the project the new Head of Procurement got a clear overview of the situation and deeper insight into the main issues the company is facing. Especially, the House of Recommendation gives him a visual summary of the topics he will be responsible to address and solve to complete the last part to operating fully on lean principles.
