Entering a market as a start-up can be challenging. The hoped-for success might not come, and new challenges emerge quickly. This is also known to Discentia. Discentia is a new course booking platform for both online and on-site courses. Discentia was founded as a start-up and subsidiary of MedienArt AG in 2020. Yet, Discentia has not attracted the hoped-for success in the online course booking market since its founding, despite initial research suggesting that there was a place in the market for such a concept. Discentia decided to work with the FHNW on this project to find the problem.
The goal of this practical project was to analyze Discentia and to get a better understanding of the online course booking market in Switzerland. Therefore, it was decided to use multiple approaches to deliver a report which gives more insight into the matter. These approaches are:
- Market analysis: Conducted with 4 P’s
- Analysis of Discentia: 4 P’s and SWOT analysis
- Target group analysis: Surveys of course participants and interviews with course instructors.
- User journey analysis
The findings were collected and formulated into a cohesive report for Discentia.
The project team delivers a final report to Discentia containing key findings, suggestions, and a recommendation of action, such as a UI mock-up for an improved website. The final report is summarized and presented to the client.
