UBS AM disseminates investment strategy onto several institutional consultant databases in order to market their investment capabilities to both existing clients and prospects. The investment strategy data undergoes an ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) process to then be finally accessible on various institutional consultant databases. The current solution of UBS AM is not integrated with authoritative master data sources and therefore, exhibits several manual process steps. UBS AM would like to understand and document the requirements which the future strategy reporting solution must fulfil.
The author mainly divided the thesis into two sections. Firstly, a literature review was conducted in order to internalize and conclude main aspects of requirements engineering. Secondly, reviewed concepts and models of requirements engineering were applied to meet the client’s objectives. The second part of thesis documented the following key activities of requirements engineering in the context to the planned implementation of a strategy reporting solution: • Firm and project goals • Stakeholder identification and analysis • System context model • Requirements documentation
In order to reach the client’s objectives, the thesis comprised the documentation of several key activities of requirements engineering. Firstly, the author analysed and elucidated the populated data. Secondly, the firm as well as the project goals were outlined. Further, stakeholders of the planned solution were identified, described, and analysed in order to determine their future involvement. Additionally, the system context of the future solution was determined as well as all relevant applications and business processes were outlined.
