IMPLEMENTATION OF AN IN-HOUSE LEARNING AND TRAINING PLATFORM FOR DIGITAL SUBJECTS

One of the efficiency-increasing technics is managing knowledge, which stores information and increases organizational knowledge.

SpanSet Inter AG is a company that faces issues of information transfer. An overflow of knowledge and a dysfunctional retrieval system have increased additional work and unnecessary confusion. Several tools are used to manage and store information. The tools have downsides, contributing to additional inefficient working behavior. This thesis should introduce a concept to SpanSet Inter AG, which prevents knowledge loss and storage of stored information. In addition, the concept should also suggest learning tools that could help SpanSet Inter AG increase organizational knowledge.
With the instructions of SpanSet Inter AG about knowledge management inside the company, research questions were formed. Those questions examined the content and research, that would improve the current situation. The main benefits of the current tools, learning platforms used by other companies, implementation of resources and the functions of Microsoft Learning Pathways were examined with the research questions. The research was performed with literature reviews. The main objective is to provide SpanSet Inter AG with a suggestion for a training platform with a knowledge management function.
Answering research questions produced concept suggestions. The suggestion for SpanSet Inter AG was made by merging the two concepts. The first concept is to implement Confluence as the main knowledge management tool for the company. This will encourage knowledge exchange and a detailed description of organizational knowledge. The second concept is to implement Microsoft Learning Pathways as the main learning solution for SpanSet Inter AG. It will solve the issue of knowledge loss since knowledge about Microsoft tools is standardized. Both concepts being a part of the knowledge management system will provide SpanSet Inter AG with the benefits of a wiki system and proper employee training. Interlinking concepts will offer an interdepartmental exchange. But the most important insight of the thesis is that the implementation of a proper knowledge management system is more important than the used tool itself. Knowledge goals and strategies will help in practicing and measuring the progress of a company’s knowledge management. This will help the company also to prevent unwanted risks. The company can improve its business strategies and concepts with this suggestion.
