From time to time, the FHNW organizes some events where students can participate in return for compensation. In order to sign up for these events, the FHNW currently operates with excel spreadsheets in order to coordinate the registration. Working with excel spreadsheets is combined with a lot of manual work, and there is room for improvement. This thesis aims to research, evaluate and eventually recommend an alternative solution to the client in the form of an application.
Out of a range of possible tools, six solutions were picked out for a more detailed analysis broken down to the problem statement. The goal was to cover a wide range of variety and include solutions with different principles and approaches on how to manage events. The six tools (Excel Spreadsheets, Nuudel, Helfereinsatz, SimplyBook.me, FitogramPro, and Mindbody) were compared and evaluated with the help of user stories. The best fitting solution was recommended to the client.
Concluding this thesis, the Helfereinsatz tool was recommended to the FHNW as the application that could be implemented to continue with the Studierendenpool in the future. The application provides a lot of useful functionalities to better manage the events related to the Studierendenpool. Compared to the other competitors, Helfereinsatz is one of the cost-friendliest, and the price-performance ratio is among the best. The Studierendenpool and all the processes involved in managing the events could be improved by using this application. From a student's perspective, the registration gets easier and is supported by an appealing user interface. Helfereinsatz provides four different versions of the application. For the explained problem statement, the expert version for 500 CHF per year would be recommended, but the pro version for 300 CHF per year could be a viable alternative with some minor limitations to it.
