The organization provides IT consulting to companies, for implementation projects. The decision-making in these projects has a high administrative overhead, as most of the project management related information is stored within a system, which is originally intended for time and contract management. Because it was not intended to be used as a project management tool, the data relating project management is not clearly visible. One challenge for project management decision-making at the organization is the spread responsibility over the different projects, and as such it is difficult to keep an overview over the different stages. The system also offers only very limited options to visualize data. This increases the complexity to manage the projects and without clear information, decision-making is negatively impacted.

Design Thinking is applied as an user centered approach, to identify problems and develop a solution. The problem of data access and the lack of means for effective and efficient decision-making are identified through literature review and documentation review of the internal platform. The solution regarding data access is investigated upon in collaboration with employees in workshops and interviews. The solution is then presented as a prototype with gathered requirements with the employees.

The results of this thesis are recommendations focused on a decision-making process and maximizing against satisficing. In addition, a prototype of a dashboard is build within Power BI and live connected with the Data Warehouse. This prototype can already be used, as the first feedback was already implemented. The benefits for the client are a decision-making process, which can better guide the project mangers in their decision-making and therefore optimize it. Another benefit is the administration overhead reduction of the data gathering for decision-making, due to a prototype, which provides a better overview of the data and gives additional insights.
