In today’s business environment, managers have to be fast, as well as efficient in their decision-making process. Especially SME's, as their economic environment is often unstable. They have to manage and monitor their business and information resources in a timely and efficient manner. Until now, Swiss SME's are not aware of the importance of a system that merges their data and information, which is then used for managerial decision-making processes. Often, this task is completed by controlling, finances or even IT. Most often, the data is merged and analyzed in Excel sheets.

At first, literature was conducted to give the reader an insight into the BI world. In the field of BI efficiency and effectiveness measurement, there is not much literature. Then, interviews with AXview clients were held to gain an insight of their BI efficiency and effectiveness using AXview. The insights from the interviews were analyzed and the parameters for the efficiency increase measurement were defined and applied. Further, a draft for the “AXview Calculation Tool” was created, allowing to calculate a rough estimate of efficiency gains brought by the introduction of AXview.

The major finding of this bachelor’s thesis is, that it is very challenging to compare the companies that use AXview. As each company is active in a completely different industry and uses different reports, it is difficult to find common ground. Nevertheless, it was clearly visible that AXview offers significant time-saving opportunities. For example, in the area of report processing in the daily business. Further, the experts greatly enjoy the multidimensionality of AXview and all the possibilities this function brings with it. The increase in data quality is also substantial. Finally, it is clearly visible that AXview brings a shift of workload with it as well as opening new opportunities for employees. Many reportings can be processed by the staff as well and not only by the finance department, for example. Further, first indicators on how the efficiency increase can be measured are provided.
