Bloxxgame is a web-based simulation game whose purpose is to help learners gain a deeper understanding of how blockchain works. Due to the traction that it has gained within the academic community, the core Bloxxgame team wanted to go ahead with extending it to maturity.

- The website was outdated, not up to date visually. The structure was unclear and was not user friendly. It was also frustrating to maintain and extend
- There was no revenue model in place, therefore costs were covered privately
- Even though the planning for the game was detailed, there was no strategic roadmap for the rest of Bloxxgame as a business
- Scaling the use of Bloxxgame requires more instructors who could teach blockchain
- The process of how teachers got access to Bloxxgame, and learn how to administer a game needed to be improved
A requirements engineering workshop was held at the beginning of the project. Deliverables for the project were then agreed upon, based on the workshop. The insights were then used to structure and plan the work needed to be done.
The project was completed with an agile methodology. At the end of every sprint and the beginning of the next sprint, the project team met up with the project customers. This iterative and agile method of working allowed the project team to consistently get the feedback of the client and to make sure the right solutions were being developed.
Thanks to the detailed requirements workshop which was held at the beginning of the project, several new artefacts were added to the Bloxxgame ecosystem:
A detailed and plausible roadmap for Bloxxgame was defined, which describes what the next strategic steps for Bloxxgame should be. To prepare for the roadmap, the team performed detailed market research in the form of interviews with existing Bloxxgame users and market surveys. This market research forms the foundation for the business roadmap proposal and gives the client peace of mind that the roadmap is based on facts.
In addition to the business roadmap, the official Bloxxgame website has been rewritten using WordPress and supporting plugins. Due to the decision to use WordPress, the client can now make their own changes to the web page at any time, without having to contact a supporting developer. Furthermore, the structure of the website has been aligned with the roadmap (forum, blog, etc.). To view the new webpage, go to https://bloxxgame.io
