At Baloise Group, economic scenarios are generated with a comprehensive third-party software. This software provides a vast range of functionalities that is embedded within dynamic-link libraries. To enhance the existing process of generating economic scenarios, Baloise Group seeks to develop a custom end-user application that serves as guided user interface between the user and the logic that is implemented in the underlying libraries. With a self-developed application, Baloise Group aims to tailor the interface between user and underlying logic to the individual needs of the company.
Through the analysis of existing tools and the exchange with the client, the system requirements could be collected. These requirements were subsequently re-arranged into use cases that aim to reflect the users needs. Finally, a conceptual solution was proposed and described, that contains the functionality that is required to satisfy those needs. To assure that the proposed solution is also technically feasible, several technologies and frameworks were assessed and their suitability was tested with individual proof-of-concepts.
The thesis concludes that the potential advantages of an implementation of the conceptual solution could prevail the features of the existing software and should therefore be pursued. Thus, the core functionality of the proposed solution is additionally implemented in an initial version of the application. This implementation serves as a proof-of-concept of the suitability of the solution and lays the groundwork for further enhancement of the application at Baloise Group.
