Reduction of the Swiss Postal returns

A customer data retrieval program has reached the end of its lifecycle. The potential replacement providers were assessed based on predetermined criteria. A business case was then created to demonstrate the added value of the new solution, which was then presented to an internal board to receive funding.

The Vertriebsdatenmanagement team from the company Helvetia Insurance Switzerland use an application to retrieve their customers latest address data if they relocated. However, this application, provided and developed by the Schweizerische Post AG, was announced to be discontinued. To keep data quality for the relevant internal systems high, a suitable replacement for this process is needed. Also, the new system should potentially provide more functionality and a more automated process which equals to the modern best practices.
To find a replacement solution for the presented issue, several measures were taken. To know what exactly the requirements were, an as-is situation of the current application and team was done. Then, the potential solutions were evaluated and the recommended solution was further used in the thesis to develop and model a to-be model. Furthermore, for the upcoming project to implement a solution, several project guidelines were presented to state the collected information from stakeholders. A business case part delivered the necessary calculation and justification to receive financial funding.
The chosen solution was accepted as a suitable solution. Also, thanks to the modelled to-be process, a comprehensive comparison of the changes from the current process model to the new model has been depicted. The necessary justifications like improved process automation and efficiency including more functionality in comparison to the current solution additionally favour the proposed project to be accepted by the internal project portfolio board. In the business case section, the required resources from both Helvetia and the partner company were established to know how much is needed to successfully implement the new solution. If the project starts, the gathered findings from the stakeholders are stated to ease and support the success of the project.
