For a social robot to become household equipment, it must be safe, affordable, and flexible to interact with a continuously changing surroundings. The aim of this thesis is, therefore, to delimit “simple, soft social robots” and to evaluate the potential soft and simple objects, including various materials and forms for the creation of this new field of robots. With these findings, a basis for a social robot, which could be called simple, soft social robots, and several possible implementable works could be established for future growth.
In the theoretical framework, we start with the delimitation of simple, soft social robots by defining each of these categories: social, soft and simple - as a new field. Based on that, we develop ourselves a general definition of the whole term "simple, soft social robots" and evaluate such robots based on our self-developed assessment area and classification framework. Afterwards, we use all of the findings and above frameworks for our simple, soft social robots' implementation.
In our implementation, we prioritize the ideas according to what has been defined previously with the main focus on solving human problems in their daily life. Besides, we also develop several specific robots for domestic animals, plants, and hospitality. Afterwards, by generally evaluating the function, needs, and feasibility of each robot, we can come up with a certain number of simple, soft social robots for future implementation. Therefore, we can conclude that this new field of such robotization of things is meaningful and applicable to create and develop various robots to improve our standard of living by making it more acceptable.
