Development of a new business model for ELCO AG
The largest envelope manufacturer in Switzerland would like to chase new business opportunities on the market. Thus, they collaborated with the students from FHNW to identify and explore the market for this new idea.

As one of the most well-known Swiss organizations, they desire to look for more opportunities to create new revenue streams rather than being in stasis. For this reason, this project aims to support the company to do business model analysis, idea generation, and market analysis for one chosen idea.
Regarding the business model analysis, the primary data was collected via a workshop with the management team. The Business Model Canvas was used to analyze the business model. Based on this, new ideas were generated. Then, one idea was chosen by the client for further analysis. To explore the feasibility of the idea, market research was conducted for the overall Swiss market. The attractiveness of the targeted industry was identified by M. Porter's Five Forces analysis. A SWOT analysis was used to summarize the internal and external environment for this offering.
The business model analysis shows that the company has a stable business with its Swissness, strong partnerships, and diverse revenue sources. However, the B2C segment should also be taken into account as a potential revenue source for the company.
A market analysis was also conducted for evaluating the potential of the new idea. The results prove that the targeted market is potential for the company to invest in. However, they still need some improvements on their offerings to be successful.
