Ferrum Packaging AG is a manufacturer of can seaming machines based in Switzerland. In order to ensure a long functionality of these machines, the can seaming machines should be maintained and checked regularly. For this reason, Ferrum Packaging AG created a maintenance contract offer for its customers. The company has already launched the product for a small number of customers who specifically asked for such services. However, the actual needs of the customers have not been assessed.
The thesis tries to recommend a course of action based on a business model. The business model is realized with the help of the 7 Keys Model and is primarily intended to provide information on how maintenance contracts can be successfully introduced. This model analyzes the implementation of maintenance contracts based on seven components: clients and their needs, products and services, access to clients, competitors, money, resources, and founder as a person/company.
Ferrum Packaging Ltd. is advised to offer one of two options. In option one, the customer can fully compile an individual maintenance contract without any recommendations from Ferrum Packaging Ltd. Option two includes a predefined suggestion for the maintenance contract from the Ferrum Packaging Ltd. to the customer. Depending on whether the customer prefers a lower or higher service level, the components vary in price. Furthermore, Ferrum Packaging Ltd. benefits from a detailed competitor and PESTEL analysis as well as an elaborated marketing concept.
