Recently, Elco has noticed a trend towards sustainability within their tendering processes. Earlier, tenders' award criteria were 100 % determined by price, whereas today, sustainability is also an award criterion that accounts for up to 40 % of a tender. Elco is wondering if other customers apart from the tenders have an increasing need for sustainability. Therefore, the question is not only where the current trends are, but also if Elco was able to fulfill the sustainability requirements.
This bachelor thesis aims to present a holistic overview of sustainability. The thesis follows the model of Loew & Braun (2009) on Corporate Social Responsibility Governance and Corporate Social Responsibility Fields. CSR-governance and the CSR-fields were analyzed from different angles: Elco's perspective, the perspective of current literature, the perspective of an expert, the customer perspective, and the internal perspective. The five categories of analysis should highlight the different aspects of sustainability so that new understanding for Elco emerges.
The results showed that Elco has already taken considerable actions in terms of sustainability. However, the results showed that the sustainability measurements seem not to be implemented in a structured way. The thesis gives recommendations on implementing a sustainability structure without changing Elco's corporate spirit.
