At the beginning of the project bloxxgame only allowed one game session at a time. It was not yet publicly available and had no solution for web hosting and cost coverage. Many business aspects, like how to communicate the game's launch and how to go public were not considered yet. The goal was therefore to, implement the possibility to have multiple game sessions, do research on different business models for going public, find a web hosting solution and figure out how the hosting costs will be covered, create a communication plan for the launch, and create a business plan.
Due to the project being business and IT the team had to be flexible. Certain requirements and goals were adapted or added. Hence, the original problem description is not up to date. Each member got tasks and roles assigned and progress was presented in a weekly team meeting. Due to the changes that were made to the original description, the team communicated often with their supervisor and client, to ensure that everything is how they want it to be. To keep an overview of the tasks the team tracked them using a Kanban board on Trello. Important tasks had fixed deadlines.
With the project's completion the game is now able to run multiple game sessions simultaneously, web hosting is handled over IBM and they also cover the costs for the time being. two new domains were bought, and it now has a new and modern landing page. Google Analytics can be used to view incoming website traffic. Going-live options were researched and presented. For the launch the game will be open-source, possibly under an open-source license, which license will be used has not been decided yet. A communication plan was created to help identify the target groups and how to catch their interest in the game. A business plan was created that offers an insight on bloxxgames background, the market it will operate in, its competitors, finances, risks, and so on. As part of the project, a survey was conducted during the IT-Security module, where students got to play the game. The survey showed that with only one session, the students already improved their knowledge of blockchain. For the future, the idea is to register bloxxgames logo and name as a trademark, and also offer educational material for money and to find more sponsors. The earning would fund improvements and development.
