Feasibility of ERP migration towards "Cycle" by App-Room for Loris Concept

How does a SME decide if an ERP solution fits their needs? What are the steps a business should take before deciding? Commissioned by Swiss bike SME Loris Concept, the group evaluated whether the bike industry ERP "Cycle" by Swiss software supplier App-Room fits the business needs of our client.

Loris Concept, a Swiss bike company based in Münchenstein, had been using multiple IT systems dedicated to specific processes inside the business. This caused major issues as the transfer of vital information between systems was difficult. For these reasons, the business requested that we investigate and give a recommendation as to whether the ERP Solution "Cycle" provided by the Swiss vendor App-Room was viable to manage all of their business processes and would provide a level of benefit, that was superior to the current patchwork solution and make the migration efforts worth realizing.
To determine whether „Cycle“ by App-Room was a viable solution for Loris Concept, the team needed to take several steps. These included documenting all core processes (sales, repairs, warehousing, procurement and administration). We then determined the functional/non-functional requirements of the business. From there the group tested and documented how/if requirements of the business were satisfied by “Cycle”. Finally, we gave an in-depth recommendation which weighs the benefits/drawbacks of the system for the business incl. migration efforts, to determine whether to move to the new solution.
After completing an in-depth analysis of the ERP solution provided by App-Room and comparing it to the current system, the group was able to determine that the benefits provided by the new system were superior to the current solution. Most notably, the group found that the ability to better manage the business' inventory, repair processes, and procurement would greatly decrease the amount of time employees are currently spending managing these areas of the business. In addition, new functionality/features that were not available on the previous solution will now allow for the business to become more customer friendly. An example of new functionality now offered by App-Room's solution includes a text messaging feature where messages are sent to customers based on status changes in the repair process. A comprehensive and transparent account of the findings, consisting of six reports including the summarizing and guiding Recommendation Report document, was presented and delivered to the customer. In addition, we already supported Loris Concept with realizing first steps towards a successful migration procedure.
