Market Analysis for a Food-Truck at the FHNW Campus Is there a demand for a Food-truck at the FHNW?

Several universities are adapting to the current food-truck trend in Switzerland including the University of Zurich and the "Eidgenössische Technische Hochschule". This allows them to satisfy students' and employees' needs.

A personal inquiry was conducted and the feedbacks spoke in favor of a food-truck at the FHNW. Thus, this research is aimed to determine whether it would be successful at the campus.
Through review of literature, customer needs were assessed and an estimation of the Swiss market size was conducted. By sending out a questionnaire to the FHNW students and staff their behavior towards a food-truck was identified and analyzed. Additionally through interviews, food-truck owners provided valuable insights in the food-truck industry.
The results show that the assessed population is willing to buy from a locally sited food-truck. Preferred mealtimes were lunch and dinner but not breakfast. The FHNW staff, the full-time and the part-time students' answers were mostly comparable, although they revealed differences in their purchasing power. Furthermore, the interviewees emphasize the importance of their location at universities. Therefore, our recommendation is to set up a food-truck at the FHNW to confirm the theoretical results and encourage food-truck owners to place their business in front of FHNW that satisfy customer needs.
