Through the accomplishment of many digital transformation projects, Arcondis AG noticed that not all projects ran as smoothly as expected. An expert team investigated the fundamental difference of the projects starting points and came to the realization that the organisations encountering some issues during the project course had lacks in certain areas, which are important for a digital transformation. Arcondis AG's interest in a readiness assessment arose from this situation.

The essentials of the procedure undergone were firstly, a qualitative literature review. After that, an efficient research design was created which included the types of data that would be used, the research methods that were applied and the format of the assessment questions. Finally. the reporting to the contracting party as well as the expectation alignment were discussed.

In the results the four identified fields, data, organization, compliance and performance, which are relevant for digital transformation were analysed on the basis of their importance in regard to digital transformation. Furthermore, the fundamental areas theoretical concepts were prepared. On the basis of the concepts, a prototype for an assessment tool was created with the aid of Microsoft Excel. The tool consists of assessment questions that cover the essential points of the theory, which was established in the Bachelor Thesis, and an indexing system for the evaluation of the client’s readiness. In addition, each of the fundamentals is supported by a weighting system which considers Arcondis AG's current priorities into the calculation of the index. Arcondis AG gained the ability to have a supporting tool and an established foundation to further discuss the topic of a market-ready readiness assessment tool.
