Knowledge is one of the most important resources for businesses today and is essential to gain a competitive advantage. Nonaka (1991) describes this with the following statement: “In an economy where the only certainty is uncertainty, the one sure source of lasting competitive advantage is knowledge.” Knowledge Management methods support companies in aligning the knowledge in the company with the corporate strategy and managing it over the entire life cycle. Process-oriented Knowledge Management is focussing on integrating Knowledge Management with Business Process Management since the organizational knowledge is used and created in business processes. Knowledge-based systems are used to make explicit knowledge available and automatically retrievable. Machine Learning is gaining more importance in business and there are several use cases available in nearly every industry. Data-driven Machine Learning allows to create and apply tacit knowledge. Machine Learning in the medical sector involves some difficulties, such as explaining the results, observing compliance through rigid rules or implementing rule changes at short notice through new research results. The combination of Machine Learning and knowledge-based systems can improve the ability to explain results....
