This thesis addresses this gap by developing a tailored Digital Maturity Assessment Model designed specifically for the road construction equipment sector (RCE-DMM).
The study follows the Design Science Research (DSR) methodology, proceeding through the phases of awareness, suggestion, development, and evaluation. Through a comprehensive literature review and expert interviews, the research identifies key digital maturity dimensions relevant to the industry.
The resulting assessment tool enables organizations to self-evaluate their digital capabilities, benchmark progress, and prioritize digital transformation initiatives. The model is validated with industry practitioners to ensure usability and relevance. The thesis contributes both a practical artefact for digital maturity assessment and empirical insights into the digitalization challenges and opportunities facing the road construction equipment sector.
