Within Product Supply EMEA, Bayer CropScience operates across multiple systems, data sources, and analytical tools. As data volumes and analytical capabilities continue to grow, the challenge is not only to provide access to data, but to ensure that business users can effectively find, understand, and apply data in their daily work. Addressing this challenge requires approaches that balance accessibility, governance, and usability in operational decision-making contexts.
Using a qualitative research approach, the authors combined academic research with industry-oriented analysis. The work included a review of existing literature, structured exchanges with subject matter experts, and a dedicated workshop with a business function to explore practical perspectives on data usage and decision support.
As an outcome, the project presents a structured framework for data democratization and outlines a phased action plan that illustrates how data and analytics capabilities can be developed and aligned over time. The results are intended to support reflection and learning around data democratization practices and provide a foundation for further discussion within the organization.
