The nursing home Haus zur Heimat in Olten employ 80 people, which encompasses the nursing staff as well as other branches such as hospitality. Up until now, they have been relying on traditional ROTA planning methods to create their employee schedules. However, this solution is no longer ideal, as this process is very time-consuming. Now the organization is looking into AI automated ROTA planning solutions to make the process faster and more flexible by possibly integrating employee participation.
This project determined the needs of the organization using stakeholder interviews and hands-on analysis of the current software. The results of this were complemented with a market analysis to create a weighted decision matrix, determining the best fitting software. Furthermore, a literature review gave an overview of the current ROTA planning processes as well as the trends and challenges, and regulations related to AI automation within this field.
This project has analysed 6 software applications on the market. The software was then evaluated based on its fit for the previously specified requirements. Furthermore, the cost of the products was also assessed, along with their compatibility with the existing IT structure of the client. It has been determined that all candidates have their up- and downsides.
