Business Logic for Incentives on Energetic Renovations

This bachelor thesis aims to simplify the process of gathering information about governmental incentives for energetic renovations of buildings. In collaboration with Avendo, a Swiss start up in real estate, this problem was approached in an innovative manner.

Currently, the information about incentives are collected at the official platform of the Swiss government, called “Das Gebäudeprogramm”. The authority on how to execute this incentives in detail as well as the applying conditions are with the cantons. This leads the customer to an extended journey over several webpages. We solved this problem by creating a unified business logic. This business logic is meant to closely interact with Avendo’s property portal. Combining both tools results in an advanced user experience.
The subsidized renovation measures are listed from M-01 to M-18. The process started with gathering information on which canton supports which measures to what conditions and amounts. The second step included the creating of a formula for each measure that calculates the correct incentive. These formulas also ensure that conditions and restrictions are taken into account. The property portal then feeds the business logic with information about the property and retrieves the calculated incentives from it.
With this thesis, Avendo is able to provide its customers valuable information about potential incentives. The user is only required to enter the respective address into the portal, the rest of the process is automated. This is distinct from other solutions, where multiple parameters are required from the user. This thesis is also the first solution that covers all of Switzerland and is not restricted to one canton. The business logic can therefore be seen as a novum in many regards. When implemented in the property portal, the result of this thesis is an opportunity for Avendo to attract potential customers. Furthermore, a collaboration with experts for energetic renovations is worth considering.
