This analysis aims to determine which values the targeted stakeholder groups, namely elderly residents of a nursing home, their caregivers, and institution managers, have and how they can inform the aesthetic design of a socially assistive robot.
Value Sensitive Design methodology was applied to identify these values and derive appropriate design requirements for a visual prototype of a socially assistive robot.
The outcomes of this thesis aspire to provide robot developers and researchers with insights concerning stakeholder values and their influence on the design process of humanoid socially assistive robots for elderly people in Switzerland.
