The Water Accounting Data Ecosystem

Water is behind every aspect of our lives. It is directly in the water we drink, indirectly in the food we eat, and inherent in the supply chain processes that deliver the goods and services we purchase. Behind quantification of these complex flows is the Water Accounting Data Ecosystem (WADE), a young field of science which matches supply chains water sustainability. Supporting this research is a thin web of data sources which are outdated, unstandardized, and full of estimates. This study asserts that increasing data quality will improve the decision ability of stakeholders of The Water Accounting Data Ecosystem. This thesis is further analyzed by answering 1) Who are the stakeholders in The Water Accounting Data Ecosystem? 2) How can data in The Water Accounting Data Ecosystem be qualified? 3) What solution(s) exist which qualifies The Water Accounting Data Ecosystem and brings value to its stakeholders? The findings of this study indicate data flow plus the decision ability of stakeholders will improve measurable impact relevant to stakeholder value.
