The Codos Foundation, a non-profit foundation located in Zug, has submitted an assignment to gain a better understanding of the business development outreach to potential early adopter companies. The main target of this investigation is to examine if a company may potentially choose or choose not to collaborate with the Codos Foundation and the reasons behind it. To minimize a negative decision outcome with a potential partner, we elaborate on the best practice approach messaging and engagement of other NGOs, which are following similar values and beliefs such as awareness and sustainability.
First, we analyzed secondary data that may be tangent to the Codos Foundation. We identified fields of interest that are important for understanding the operation of the Codos Foundation and built the foundation of this thesis. Then two qualitative research methods followed and solely consisted of primary data. It was determined what the best practice approach for approaching a potential collaboration partner from the perspective of an NGO is. Then, we elaborated on generating and exploring company-specific partnership opportunities and pinpointed specific industries for further investigation.
The findings suggest that there is overall interest in Codos’s concept. Increased interest was found in sectors such as finance, technology, professional service, and the event sector such as the football sector. Other sectors such as the manufacturing sector were identified to be less significant due to the emissions produced consisting mainly of Tir 1 and Tir 2 emissions. Interviewees were somehow more critical towards the aspects of monetization, cryptocurrency as well as data protection. Monetizing considerate and good behavior was hard for organizations to retrace. As Cryptocurrencies are nouvelle inventions most participants struggled to understand how this technology works and how it could be leveraged to generate benefits. Concerning data protection, employers are increasingly concerned about breaching data protection laws when considering joining such programs. In regard to which sector Codos should focus on, we identified the quick retail industry, professional services, and the event/ football industry. The event/ football industry was considered to be a viable option due to the fact of the sector’s dependency on quick and effective movement of big crowds of people.
